The Properties of Alternation of Conditioned Reflexes in Dogs.

چکیده
In the broadest sense of the word alternation refers to any experimental procedure in which one stimulus elicits different responses depending on the ordinal number of the trial. The simplest form of alternation , which may be called " simple alternation'', is that in which a conditioned stimulus (CS) alternately signals either reinforcement or nonreinforcement in successive trials (i.e., + — type alternation). In more complex forms of alternation the schedule mav bp more complicated, as type of alter-ioning many years t in dogs not only lex form in which itive trial (U s i e-the procedure of different positive schedule (M i s h-used in the study ^ ^^numui i^oivjua in tins lauoraiory (Brutkowski et al. 1956, Brutkowski 1957, 1959, Ł a wick a 1957, Szwej-ków s k a, in preparation), it was decided to analyze the mechanism of this sort of conditioning by examining some of its properties. The present paper is concerned with this subject.

Impairment of salivary reflexes after lateral hypothalamic lesions in dogs.
The effects of lateral hypothalamic lesions on salivary conditioned and unconditioned reflexes were investigated on seven dogs. Subsequent to the operation during the period of aphagia and hypophagia a total lack (6 dogs), or a decrease (1 dog) of conditioned salivary reaction was found. Strong diminution of unconditioned reactions and intertrial salivation were observed. At the end of the obse...
متن کاملThe number of consecutive clicks in the train as positive or differential conditioned stimulus in dogs.
Conditioned reflexes were elaborated to trains of identical signals (clicks) of a constant number with variable interstimulus interval. The negative conditioned stimulus differed from the positive one only by the number of elements in the train. In classical defensive conditioned reflexes the latent period of motor conditioned responses to the positive stimulus was shorter than to the negative ...
متن کاملThe effects of imipramine treatment on the unconditioned alimentary behavior and classical conditioned salivary reactions in dogs.
In Experiment I the effect of imipramine treatment on the unconditioned food intake in dogs was tested. In Experiment II imipramine was injected in dogs in which classical conditioned salivary reflexes had been previously elaborated. Both conditioned and unconditioned salivation were decreased. The differentiation of conditioned salivation to CS+ and CS- was disturbed during the imipramine trea...
متن کاملHippocampal electrical activity and different types of conditioned reflexes in dogs.
Changes in hippocampal activity and heart rate were studied in dogs during elaboration of defensive and alimentary conditioned reflexes and switching-over between different types of reinforcement. Conditional stimuli enhanced synchronization and increased frequency of theta wave trains in hippocampal electrical activity. Parallelly to emotional tension of the dogs a significant rise in amplitud...
متن کاملOn the functional stucture of conditioned reflexes to serial stimuli in dogs.
The functional structure of conditioned reflexes to a stimulus series has been studied. The serial stimulus consisted of a tone of 600 Hz, passive lifting of the right forepaw, and a puff of air directed at the eye, the latter component of the series being reinforced by food. Four dogs were wed. Objective registration of the effector manifestations to each component stimulus has shown that, dur...
